As the snow melts and the trails reopen, it’s time to prep your ATV or side-by-side for another great riding season. At Hyper Toys in Dawson Creek, BC, we’ve put together this quick spring maintenance checklist to get your machine running at peak performance.
1. Change the Oil & Filter
Fresh oil is critical after winter storage. Check your owner’s manual for the correct oil type and interval. If your machine sat unused for a few months, a fresh oil change and new filter will keep your engine protected and running smooth.
2. Inspect Tires & Pressure
Cold weather can cause tires to deflate and crack. Inspect for visible wear or damage, and make sure all tires are inflated to the recommended PSI. Uneven wear may point to alignment issues worth addressing before hitting the trails.
3. Test & Charge the Battery
Batteries often lose charge over the winter. Test voltage levels and inspect for corrosion at the terminals. If the battery is more than a few seasons old, consider replacing it to avoid being stranded.
4. Check Accessories & Safety Gear
Whether it’s your winch, light bar, storage racks or windshield, inspect all accessories for damage or loose connections. Replace worn-out items and make sure everything is trail-ready.
